Okay so I've trawled some forums and tried a few things but am struggling to sort this problem. My ArmaII version is 112555, but to join the {PR} server I need to revert to 103718. When I select the 103718 patch in the dropwdown of the downloads menu it first warns me that the current version I have is more recent, and then gives me 'Wrong CD Key' and doesn't continue with the install. I have run Steam as administrator and then run ArmaII and OA seperately which is supposedly meant to resolve the issue, but it persists. Anyone have any ideas on what to do next, preferably excluding a full reinstall because nobody wants that with 500kb/s download speed.
Moved to proper section, haven't touched the Mod in awhile so @Abaddon might be able to help you out a bit more.
Weasel the server is running the latest Arma 2 version 112555, even though I haven't updated the server name yet with the correct current version. So you should not be reverting your Arma 2 version back to 103718, because that is an old incorrect version no longer running on the server. Make sure to upgrade it back to 112555. When updating Arma 2 versions through commander, the installer will install the update, and then appear to have "failed" giving an error saying "wrong cd key." You will notice the progress bar was still filled and the install has been successful anyways - it is just a known bug that tends to happen when updated - happens to me every time I update and it still updates successfully. Your key and files should be fine. I would like to ask you what Epoch version you are trying to join the server with. The server is still running Epoch version 1.0.4.2, not the latest version 1.0.5.1. You may have updated the version when the update came out, or maybe even have an autoupdates on? 1.0.5.1 came out last week and I will try to get the server updated sometime next week when I get back to my place. FYI, make sure in Commander's settings you have "Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so Steam works" checked to keep your Beta patch updated to the latest version via Steam as well (DayZ runs through the Beta patch). Then make sure it's all up to date on Steam. Another thing, launch your Beta patch through Steam or the shortcut in your Arma dirctory and click expansions, and make sure you only have Epoch selected. Likewise, also check your "additional launch parameters" in your Commander settings and make sure you don't have a custom launch parameter trying to load in an expansion not running on the server. If all fails, verify Arma 2, OA, and Beta patch files on Steam, then run each one in order as administrator and let it load to the main menu. Any other issues or errors reply here. DayZ can be a real hassle sometimes and it's very buggy, but we will get it working for you. Also, if you are trying to connect to the server via Commander or Steam launcher, try navigating to your Arma 2 directory in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and look for the Launch Arma 2 OA Beta Patch shortcut. Launch as administrator with that and join the server through the multiplayer server browser by filtering for US.PR5 with no other filters but max ping 999. I have trouble connecting through Commander, it rejects my version every time as well, so I am only able to join through launching the Beta Patch and using the multiplayer browser. If that works, drag the Beta Shortcut to your desktop and use that to connect from now on like I do.
Okay so I've reverted the mod to 1.0.4.2, and kept Arma on the latest patch. Now when I try to join it pops a window up saying 'Installing BattlEye Service...Failed to install BattlEye Service.' I have to go to bed - work in the morning - so it's not hugely urgent right now and I think I know what I'm doing with it...we'll see if I write any more posts begging for help! Cheers Abbadon.
Battleye loves to not install updates when joining a server. Luckily, this is an easy fix if you know what you're doing. You have to manually update Battleye, something I've had to do a hundred times. Go here to download the latest Battleye files under Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead (need both files): BE Client for Windows (32-bit) - v1.218 http://www.battleye.com/downloads/arma2oa/BEClient.dll BE Server for Windows (32-bit) - v1.192 http://www.battleye.com/downloads/arma2oa/BEServer.dll Source: http://www.battleye.com/download.html Simply copy and paste both files into your Arma 2 directory, overwriting the old files and done. Reconnect and BE should initialize and say update successful. Directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\Expansion\BattlEye
Okay sorted that out, and managed to get into another server, buuuut now our server appears offline to me. ALL I WANT IS TO KILL ZOMBIES.
Lol not home ATM but it should be up. Was last night. You may have tried during a restart? Servers can appear offline for wrong versions as well. Sent from Tapatalk on Android
Well I'm running Arma2 v 112555 with Epoch 1.0.4.2 so in theory it should be working for me, but no, I waited enough time to allow for a reset. What's the most recent IP?
Oh yeah the IP was changed a while ago, as were all our game servers. Check out the server info thread to see the current IP. Sent from Tapatalk on Android
So that's the one I have on my favourites but still with supposedly the correct versions of Arma2 and Epoch installed it's greyed out and showing it as offline.
This is a bump of sorts, but thought I'd add some pictures to further assist in my problem. These are screenshots taken just after reinstalling Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead. The server list appears exactly as it did prior to the reinstall. First image shows my favourite server list. The server at the top is running 112555 and 1.0.4.2. {PR} server is at the bottom of the list and appears offline at all times, whilst not indicating versions. Note: I am able to join the top server with no problems and BattlEye is functioning as intended. Second image showing my installs for the game and mods. As you can see, Arma 2 is up to date with 112555, DayZ shows as corrupt as I uninstalled everything from Steam. Epoch is 1.0.4.2 as that's what the server should be running according to information provided. This is what I see if I try to join our server. I have left it for up to 15 minutes and it never changes. It makes me sad. Soooo if anyone can work out my problem in a way that won't require a second reinstall, that would be lovely!
I took the server down. It broke and all the files were corrupted. Working on replacing with backups and updating to the new patch. I'll let you know when it's live Sent from Tapatalk on Android
Also battleye wasn't updated on the server, that's why you couldnt join. Sent from Tapatalk on Android
Ah okay makes sense. Let me know when it's up again, really craving some DayZ time in a server I can be bothered to play in. For now I'll manage with playing Wolfenstein: The New Order, it's hilarious and fun.
