So, while playing some games, such as warframe, my second monitor will freeze the display, or simply go black, while I'm in game, preventing things like seeing TeamSpeak in my second monitor. The solution: Disable Desktop Composition. Open the Control Panel -> Open "System" -> click "Advanced System Settings" -> click the "Advanced" tab -> under "Performance" click "Settings..." -> uncheck "Desktop Composition" -> click "Ok" For information on what Desktop Composition is/does: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa969540(v=vs.85).aspx
That's an interesting one. I've been dual monitor since around 2000, and I haven't run into that. Possible driver issue or hardware issue behind the scenes on that one?
Don't think so, I think it really just depends on the game. Like I ONLY run into this issue with Warframe. Even then though, for some reason, it will only sometimes 'shut off' my secondary monitor after alt-tabbing so it's kind of random.
Happens to me every now and again, but only if i have alt tabbed at some point. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Yeah, I've only experienced it rarely. Mostly on warframe recently, and some other games. But it was enough to be annoying on warframe when I'm trying to read something on the wiki in my second monitor, or look at TS
Also came across this http://dualmonitortool.sourceforge.net/ Just in case you don't want to disable windows fancy effects (I'm assuming that's what DWM does). This util can lock your mouse within a monitor's borders using a key combo that you set. Use the combo again to release. I haven't tried it - I just came across it in the googlesphere.
