I have created this thread because, like most people in my family, I very much enjoy alcohol and its wondrous flavors. I also like learning things there are to know, which is a damn lot, about alcohol, its varieties, and the norms associated with it. This thread I mean to aim specifically at discussing different beers, wines, and other forms of alcohol, and give our own little reviews and opinions of them. So, if I may: Ninkasi's Total Domination IPA is kinda the stock beer for my family. My mom drinks it. My dad drinks it. I drink it too. And I like it. It's nice and bitter, which I believe comes from the hops, and I'm used to it. Guinness is amazing, but I don't know how it tastes outside of Irish pubs. There, at least, it is brewed to perfection. Even if I remember the foam tasting like poison. Anyway, for the meaningful substance of this post, I want to talk about three different forms of alcohol I've been introduced to recently. First is Bridgeport's Hop Czar IPA, which is an incredibly bitter, delicious frakking beer. I love, love, love all things bitter, and this was to my satisfaction in that sense. I think I liked it even more because my dad didn't. He said it was too bitter, to which I say there is no such thing. I would suggest trying it if you have a similar love. Second is North by Northwest's red wines. I had two different kinds, which I don't remember the names of, and both were fantastic. I regret that I am not more articulate in my description of wine flavors, but I'll learn. I liked it. King Estate does tasty reds too. And third is something my dad ordered today that makes no sense. It was a Grey Hound vodka martini, which he ordered up with a twist, which I learned means without ice and with a lemon peel instead of olives. It didn't really have flavor, so does that exist merely to get you drunk while appearing cultured and civilized? That's all for now. Hope this thread takes off. What alcohol are you fond of, or have recently had, that you would like to share and suggest for others?
I'll have to think of a good reply. In the mean time, I have a rack of wine that you and your dad got me for my birthday, and I have a bottle calling out to be opened
Blue Moon's okay. Y'know what's better? Pacifico, an imported Mexican beer. Put a slice of lime in it and enjoy.
BEERS THAT I ENJOY: Old Rasputin Imperial Stout: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/112/412/ - Extremely heavy, extremely flavorful, and will knock you on your ass if you aren't careful. 8-Bit Pale Ale: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16333/78937/ - I originally got this in a bar because of the taphead that it had, and I was hooked since. Hops are nicely balanced, nice and smooth going down. 1554 Enlightened Black Ale: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/192/1914/ - A nice go-to for family events. Everyone likes it, including me. Breckenridge Brewery Oatmeal Stout: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2137/2354/ - Another nice go-to for me. MIXED DRINKS THAT I ENJOY: Swamp Water: http://www.drinksmixer.com/drinkrq15244.html - It's getting drunk without feeling the alcohol! Gin and Tonic: http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink3779.html - A grandpa drink that I like because no one else will drink the ingredients when I am away. Rum and Coke: http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink5669.html - Subisutute white rum with a black rum like The Kraken, then you got yourself a nice drink. Smirf Piss: (1/2 UV Blue, 1/2 Mountain Dew or the like) - Good drink for going to a party without bringing alcohol. People tend to have these two things on hand.
